What working here looks like
Flatbed UV is based in Germiston, Gauteng and supports customers in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Gqeberha, with service into the East Rand and Centurion as well. Our work covers printer installation, site preparation, operator training, workflow planning, colour guidance and ongoing support, so each day can look a little different. Some mornings are spent on a customer site, other days are in the workshop or helping with media testing and spares coordination.
We are a small, hands-on team and everyone is expected to take responsibility for the quality of the job. That means clear notes, tidy handovers and practical thinking when a production line needs attention, or when a customer is changing media and needs help getting the best result.
Roles we recruit for
We hire for roles that support the full flatbed UV workflow from first enquiry to after-sales service. Depending on need, that can include sales, technical, training and production support positions. We also look for people who can help with installation planning and operator coaching on rigid boards, signage and related print applications.
- Sales and customer support roles for quoting, follow-up and project coordination
- Technical roles for installation, breakdown support and preventive maintenance
- Training and workflow roles for operator guidance and production planning
- Production support roles for media checks, colour guidance and day-to-day job setup
What we value in a candidate
We value people who are reliable, calm under pressure and willing to learn the details of flatbed UV printing. You do not need to know everything on day one, but you must be prepared to ask questions, follow procedure and take feedback properly. Many of our customers run on tight deadlines, and in South Africa that can mean working around load shedding, changing delivery times or site access limits.
Good candidates usually bring a practical mindset, a clean work ethic and respect for safety and quality. If you have experience with printing, signage, machine support, colour work or customer training, that is useful, but attitude matters too.
- Attention to detail on jobs, notes and handovers
- Good communication with customers and colleagues
- Willingness to travel when site work is required
- Comfort with hands-on work and structured processes
Our support areas and on-site work
Because we support multiple regions, some roles involve travel and site preparation before a printer is commissioned. You may work on customer floors, in production areas or alongside operators who need help with ink handling, media testing and workflow changes. Coastal humidity, dust and workshop conditions can all affect output, so practical awareness matters.
We also work within the realities of local compliance, including safe installation, neat cable management and sensible space planning where municipal or landlord rules apply. Good site work is not only about getting a machine running, it is about setting up a stable process that can be maintained properly afterward.
Training, growth and day-to-day learning
Joining our team means learning from people who deal with flatbed UV printing every day. We support on-the-job learning across printer installation, preventive maintenance, colour guidance and remote support. New staff are expected to build product knowledge, understand media behaviour and learn how to explain practical next steps to customers.
We do not expect polished jargon. We expect clear thinking, good habits and a willingness to keep improving. Over time, team members can grow into more specialised work such as production consulting, service coordination or training support.
